Long Holiday Extravaganza is on Saturday, December 6th.

The Long Holiday Extravaganza is on Saturday, December 6th.

There are LOTS of ways you can help. Read below for ways to help us celebrate the different cultures at Long School.

1. Could we, please borrow some cultural items (flags, clothing, jewelry, pottery, baskets, blankets, artwork, and photographs), or anything native to your country/countries? (I will return items, after December 6thYou can send in cultural items at anytime.

2. Could you please bake or buy some yummy, authentic cookies for December, 6th? ( I will need a complete recipe because of food allergies.)

3.  Could you come to Long on Saturday, December 6th to help out with this FUN, FUN day? You could volunteer an hour or two? Or you could come to Long Elementary to celebrate this day and learn about other cultures!

We appreciate all of your help! Please contact me if you can help with ANY of these things.

Watermelon Fun

First, we tried watermelon. We used adjectives to describe the watermelon. Adjectives help to make our sentences exciting. Some students thought it was tasty, but others thought is was sour. We made a list of adjectives.

We took some Watermelon Selfies! Fun!

Then we interviewed friends to see if they liked watermelons. We practiced using polite words to ask our questions. "May I ask you a question?"

We talked about our results. We used the words more and less to compare our answers. We then, wrote a sentence to explain why we liked or didn't like watermelon. We remembered to use our adjectives to help make our sentence exciting.

It was a yummy and fun day!!

Cool Cats Scavenger Hunt

Today, we went on an outside, scavenger hunt. We put some shades on because it's so bright outside.

These cool cats are looking for some items.

Emma found something that is smaller than an inch.....an inch worm!

What a fun scavenger hunt! We found some really cool things. The spider and the inch worm were our favorites!

What a bunch of silly monkeys!

Sharing our Advice and Opinions

In writing, we are working on finding problems around our school and thinking of ways we can solve these problems. These students noticed that sometimes the students' violins and cellos were all over the floor, in one area of the school. The students worried that some people may trip over these instruments. These students created signs to give some good opinions on how to make our school a safer place.

Great job, Friends!!!

We read Skippy Jon Jones and learned about Skippy Jon's adventures. We even learned about piƱatas. The students loved this book!

We wrote about what we would put in our pinatas.

We made colorful flowers from tissue paper to match the beautiful flowers we see outside.
